Hi friends,

This morning finds us in sunny Jacksonville Beach, FL. It was a completely rainy and dreary trip down here. It started raining at the Illinois / Wisconsin border on Thursday and didn't clear until today. To top it off we set another record for price at the pump; $4.19 for a gallon of gas in southern Georgia! The over dramatic nature in me
is humming a certain R.E.M. tune... "but I feel fine." We've continued our search for the next tour vehicle. It's amazing that with all of the time and effort that the auto industry puts into creating and selling cars, there's not a single vehicle that completely fits our needs. The vans that are most interesting to us are available, but not in the U.S. They're only sold in Europe and Asia... road trip, anyone? Our trusty VW is still running great, but it is getting older. Since VW no longer sells the Eurovan anywhere in North America (and seemingly doesn't want to support those of us who
purchased them) the parts are getting harder to find. We recently had a complete tune up and our mechanic said it's good for many more miles. We crossed the 307,000 mile mark on the way here!

Remember back in March when I wrote that we were hopefully listening to the final mix of the new CD as we drove across Ohio... well, it seems it's never that easy, but I have finished five of the eleven songs and brought all of the mixing gear with us on this tour. We have Monday and Tuesday of next week off, so I plan to sequester myself in a dark corner and punch through the next set of songs including a couple tunes our friend Jonathan Rundman is having me mix for his next CD. In light of the fuel costs this whole mixing for hire thing seems like a good idea...

I've been taking a lot of photos lately, but won't take the time now to post them. We've recently added a couple performances to our trip through Florida, and we still have a few openings in our summer tour. Let me know if we can stop and share some music in your community.
